Jamshedpur: VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi on Tuesday attacked Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan all over again for “tarnishing” the image of the country through their comments on intolerance.

“Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Azam Khan are tarnishing the image of the country by their statements on intolerance. They have been doing it along with AICC president Sonia Gandhi,” the VHP leader told a press conference in the steel city of Jamshedpur.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader said that the entire campaign against alleged intolerance was a conspiracy to give a bad name to the country adding that some ‘deshdrohis' (anti-nationals) were bent on doing so by returning awards.

She was referring to a string of well-known writers, filmmakers, scientists and historians who had announced the return of awards and honours as a mark of protest against the events like the lynching of a Muslim man in Dadri of Uttar Pradesh over rumours that he had consumed beef, the murder of Kannada rationalist scholar MM Kalburgi, and the police ‘raid' on Delhi's Kerala House.

This is not the first time the VHP leader has lashed out at the Bollywood actors.

Earlier in November, Prachi had dubbed Shah Rukh “anti-national” and a “Pakistani agent” for his comments on the rising intolerance in the country. “Shah Rukh Khan is an agent of neighbouring country Pakistan as he reflects their (Pakistan's) ideology. Such a man should go to Pakistan,” Prachi had said.

Shah Rukh had earned the wrath of the VHP leader after what he said there is “extreme intolerance” in India and that intolerance towards creativity and religion will hurt the country. “There is intolerance, there is extreme intolerance... there is I think... there is growing intolerance,” he had said.

Prachi had targeted actor Salman Khan for “spreading a culture of violence” apart from Shah Rukh and Aamir and had advised youngsters not to idolise the Bollywood triumvirate in March.

Prachi, an accused in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, also talked about the Dadri lynching incident saying Hindus never start riots anywhere, but some people were deliberately inciting them by killing cows and hosting beef parties, which the Hindu community would not tolerate.

She also wondered why the Uttar Pradesh government was reluctant to recommend the case to the CBI.
