Kolkata: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat today publicly defended incidents of 'homecoming' (gharvapasi) of people from other religions to Hinduism and described neighbouring country Pakistan as part of Bharat Bhoomi (land of Bharat).
Addressing the Vishal Vishwa Hindu Sammelan here, the RSS supremo said, "we will bring back (to the Hindu fold), those who strayed away from our religion. If some people do not like it, then let a law be enacted.
"We are not out convert anybody or change anybody's religion, but if Hindus do not bring about change, then Hinduism will never undergo change. We stand steadfast on this issue. We will save people from those who behead people", said Bhagwat.
The RSS chief said, until and unless the Hindus remain united and strong, none can stay in peace.
The RSS chief described Pakistan as "Bharat Bhoomi" (land of Bharat). "Pakistan was created because of what happened in 1947, and it is not permanent", he added.
Bhagwat said, India was a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation), and the Hindus are awakening.
"Pakistan is committing so many crimes. Bangladeshi infiltrators are committing crimes, and yet we tolerate. However, we will not tolerate these any more. We know what measures to take. Only the Hindus will help people who are being terrorized all over the world", said the RSS supremo.
Bhagwat's comments defending conversion of people from other religions to Hinduism may cause embarassment to the Modi government at the Centre, which is facing an onslaught from a combined opposition on this issue inside the Rajya Sabha.
