Lucknow, Aug 20: Framing of laws is a prerogative of Parliament and should be done by MPs, Union Minister for Coal Sriprakash Jaiswal today said and appealed anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare to respect the Constitution.
“Anna Hazare is a social activist and we respect him, but he should not also forget to respect the Constitution framed by Dr Ambedkar,” Jaiswal said while addressing a SC/ST convention organised by the party here.
He said that framing law was the work of the Parliament and it should be done by the MPs.
The minister said that he appealed Anna Hazare not to be adamant and contribute in strengthening the Constitution by honouring the law.
Jaiswal alleged that the Centre has launched a number of schemes for upliftment of Dalits, but in UP it was not reaching the real beneficiaries.
The reality is that Mayawati is using Dalits only as the vote bank and had nothing for them, he alleged.
UPPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi alleged that due to corruption and scams development had come to standstill in the state.
Alleging that central fund was not reaching Dalits, she said that law and order situation had hit bottom low and there was spurt in crime against SC girls. PTI
