New Delhi: Arun Jaitley is Union cabinet Minister in Narendra Modi government who is handling the responsibilities of two ministries - Finance and Defence. He was also a minister in Vajpayee led NDA government and he held crucial ministries like Commerce and Industry and Law and Justice. He is one of the most experienced politicians of the ruling BJP.Born to a lawyer father, Maharaj Kishan Jaitley and mother Ratan Prabah Jaitley, Arun followed his father's footsteps and went on to obtain a degree in Law from Delhi University. Arun Jaitley was extremely shocked and disappointed by his defeat. He didn't leave his house when the results became apparent. Many BJP leaders went to visit him at his residence to console him. The BJP has seen a number of victories under his planning. For instance in 2007, Arun Jaitley was instrumental in organizing campaign that returned incumbent CM Narendra Modi back to power. Modi had specially requested Jaitley's support. He managed eletions for Uma Bharti in Madhya Pradesh and was specifically put in charge of Karnataka which went to polls simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections in 2004. BJP then won 18 out of 26 seats in LS elections and 83 in Assembly elections. Arun Jaitley is an individual who is gifted with keen political foresight and dexterity.
