New Delhi: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Swachh Bharat” initiative to promote cleanliness in the country, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today asked Delhi Police to ensure neat and clean surroundings in its office premises.
“The Home Minister has asked Delhi Police Commissioner to monitor cleanliness drive in police buildings and other premises and ensure that they are kept neat. He (Singh) may undertake a surprise visit at some chosen locations of the department after a week,” a senior Home Ministry official said.
The official said Singh has asked Commissioner B S Bassi to oversee that the aim of the “Swachh Bharat” mission is achieved by Delhi Police, which has a large public interface by the virtue of its duties.
On October 2, after launching the ambitious initiative, Modi had paid a surprise visit to the Mandir Marg police station in the heart of the national capital to check how clean the premises were and even swept the litter spread around in the parking area.
