Mumbai, Jul 18: Under fire for linking influx of north Indians to terror attacks in Mumbai, MNS chief Raj Thackeray said he had not said anything wrong.

“The issue is of criminal elements coming along with hordes of migrants,” he said. These elements come here from Nepal via Uttar Pradesh, he told reporters.

“It is true that in 60 to 70 per cent of the criminal cases here, police have to go to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in search of culprits,” Raj said.

The MNS chief demanded an inquiry against Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi, saying the latter was sympathetic to Faiz Usmani (brother of 2008 Ahmedabad blast accused), who died here after being questioned in connection with July 13 serial blasts.

“No one should attempt to hamper police probe into the blasts,” Raj said. “Police should be given full freedom in the inquiry of the blasts,” he said.

A Bihar court has ordered an inquiry into his reported comments blaming north Indian migrants for the terror attacks.

On Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati's demand that migrants should be given houses, Raj said she should herself provide houses to migrants. PTI
