New Delhi:  Rahul Gandhi today led dharna by Congress leaders in Parliament House against the Narendra Modi government's ‘U-turns”, a day after the AICC released a booklet listing “umpteen somersaults” of the ruling BJP dispensation on a range of promises.

Gandhi and other party MPs staged the odd 20-minute dharna in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi just after the meeting of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee(PAC) of the party headed by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress vice-president flaunted a copy of the booklet in hand along with other MPs in which Congress ridiculed the BJP regime as a “farce” in the name of government, accusing it of going back on a range of promises from black money to incursions.

In the 30-page booklet titled “chhe mahine paar, U-turn sarkar” (Six months after,a U-turn sarkar), it has said the Prime Minister and his government have gone back on virtually each and every poll pitch “with a U-turn every week” Senior party leader Kamal Nath remarked that the Modi government has made a “large number of U-turns”.

“The people of the country must know that what they were saying before and what they are saying today are too entirely different things---the contradictions and the lies which they have been telling.”

“It is an issue which we want to get to the people.  People must see the number of U-turns which have been made...how the government is fooling the people”, Nath said.  In the PAC meeting, the party decided to raise issues like the controversial remarks by Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, “U-turns” of the government on BJP's pre-poll promises and the recent naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
