Patna, Mar 10: AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is likely to open the five-day mega training camp organised by Bihar Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (BPYCC) here on March 14, for the first time after the party faced crushing defeat in the October-November 2010 assembly polls.
"Rahul Gandhi is likely to undertake one-day visit to the state capital to open the mega training programme", state Congress sources said.
Much significance is being attached to Gandhi's visit to Bihar this time, being the first-ever after the Congress suffered crushing defeat in the assembly poll.
Gandhi decided to open the mega camp to rejuvenate the party's youth whose spirit was dampened because of the party's poor show at the last elections.
When contacted, state Youth Congress president Lalan Kumar said preparations were on in full swing for the mega event.
Several senior party leaders, including AIYCC president Rajiv Satav, Jitendra Bhanvar Singh, Priyavarta Singh, Wakar Rasool and others have confirmed their participation in the camp, Kumar said.
He informed that scholars from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and Jawarharlal Nehru Leadership Institute, Delhi, would deliver lectures to the partymen and elaborate on the glorious history of their grand old party and apprised them of the great contribution of the Congressmen to the country.
Special lectures would be held on motivation and imparting training for discipline, ettiquette, manners, dedication and commitment, Kumar said.
"We will also discuss strategy for revitalising the party and undertaking sustained campaign for expanding the base of youth organisation to the grassroot level", he said.
Kumar said the Mega Training Camp was being organised following directive of Rahul Gandhi to bring the party back to grassroots with the help of youths in Bihar. PTI
