New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi has sent legal notice to the media fraternity for reports that suggested that her brother Rahul was going to adopt her son so that he could carry forward the ‘Gandhi legacy'.
“To allege that a parent would willingly pass his/her child on to someone else as if he were an object devoid of emotion is morbid enough, but to ascribe to it the intention of perpetuating some sort of dynastic political aspiration is even more sickening,” Priyanka said in her notice.
”This pernicious falsehood is clearly aimed at causing deep offence to my family and is an unacceptable aspersion on my motherhood and on my character,” she added.
Priyanka is Congress Vice- President Rahul's younger sister. She is married to Robert Vadra, a businessman. Through their marriage they have a daughter Miraya and a son Raihan.
A newspaper had published a report about speculation being rife within the Congress party on whether he would adopt Raihan so that he could carry the Gandhian legacy.
Priyanka has described the report a “malicious work of fiction.”
