Lucknow, Jul 14: In an apparent attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark that it is “very difficult” to stop every single terror attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said it was an irresponsible and unfortunate statement.
“The statement of a Congress office bearer that it is difficult to stop every single attack...is unfortunate and irresponsible,” Mayawati said, without naming Rahul, in a statement here.
Rahul in Bhubaneswar today said it is “very difficult” to stop every single terror attack but asserted that 99 per cent of the strikes in the country have been stopped due to vigilance and intelligence efforts.
The UP CM said such statements demoralise people. “The Congress office bearers are not serious on the issue of terrorism and instead of trying to heal wounds of the victims and their families they were putting salt on it,” she alleged.
Condemning the yesterday's serial bomb blasts in Mumbai that left 18 dead and at least 131 injured, the BSP chief said the issue should not be politicised and all political parties should try to find a permanent solution to deal with terrorism. PTI
