Ranchi: Senior BJP leader Raghubar Das will be the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He will be sworn in as the first non-tribal Chief Minister of the state on December 28.
The swearing in ceremony will take place at 11am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the swearing in ceremony of Raghubar Das.
Das was today elected as the leader of BJP legislature party by the newly elected MLAs of the saffron party.
BJP observer J P Nadda said after the legislature party meeting that the name of Raghubar Das was proposed by Sarayu Roy, another front-runner for the post and C P Singh and supported by all the party MLAs.

Das is also a former deputy chief minister of the state. Former chief minister Arjun Munda said Das will stake claim to form the BJP-Ajsu party government.
Raghubar Das, a five-time legislator from East Jamshedpur, will be the 10th chief minister of Jharkhand.
The BJP along with its alliance partner AJSU has won 42 seats in assembly elections. BJP has won 37 seats while AJSU has won 5 seats in 81-member Assembly.
