In his defence, Chautala blamed Kumar of being corrupt and held him responsible for making changes in the recruitment list.
As the allegations created bewilderment in the apex court, the case was transferred to CBI.CBI investigated the case threadbare over a period of 4 years. CBI interrogated Chautala, his son and Sanjiv Kumar a number of times. CBI also raided the premises of Chautala and his son in course of investigation.
Chautala was the Chief Minister of Haryana when this scam took place and he had kept education portfolio with himself. Chuatala allegedly received a bribe of Rs. three to four lakhs from each teacher and had asked Kumar to swap the list of original recruits with the one Chuatala provided to him.
