Chandigarh, Oct 22 : An MLA of Shiromani Akali Dal, a supporter of expelled party leader Manpreet Singh Badal, yesterday alleged that a Punjab police officer, in an inebriated state, misbehaved with his wife at his house in Amritsar.
"A DSP of Punjab Police came to my house last night... he was under influence of liquor... he abused my wife... forcibly took away arms and ammunitions of my security personnel," Manjinder Singh Kang, a legislator representing Beas constituency in the state Assembly, told reporters here.
Condemning the alleged incident, Manpreet said he would lodge protest against the police misbehaviour at the highest level.
"If something wrong happens with Kang or any member of his family then Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will be directly responsible for it," Manpreet, who is also Sukhbir's cousin, said.
Kang further alleged that the Punjab police had pruned his security cover despite a court directive to provide him protection due to threat to him and his family.
"Since October 14 (when Manpreet aired his views against Sukhbir), the security cover given to me had been drastically pruned...," he said.
Kang, a Shaurya Chakra awardee, said that police failed to register his complaint despite attempts made by him. PTI
