Nagpur, Jun 5 : As many as 30 members of Bharat Swabhiman Sanghatana and Yuwa Swambhiman Manch were today detained during their protests in support of Yoga guru Baba Ramdev.
The activists held demonstrations at a couple of places and tried to burn the effigy of a central minister, police said adding that the protesters were later released.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders, led by city president Anil Sole, Mayor of BJP-ruled Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Archana Dehankar, chairman of standing committee, Sandeep Joshi, Girish Vyas, Prabhakar Yeole and former deputy Mayor Ravindra Bhoyar, launched a 24-hour ‘satyagraha' at Variety Square in the central part of the city to express their solidarity with the yoga guru.
Similar protests and demonstrations were reported from neighbouring districts of Wardha, Chandrapur and Bhandara besides Kamptee, Kanhan and Umrer, police added. PTI
