Agra, Jun 7 : Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said the midnight police swoop on yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his followers was undemocratic and unjustified.
"Baba was staging a non-violent protest. To use force on Baba and the people gathered at the scene is unjustified," he told reporters here.
"Every individual has a democratic right to protest and the Baba was exercising that right," Yadav said on the eve of party's two-day national convention here.
The SP supremo slammed the BSP-led Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh for what he said not permitting the yoga guru to hold his fast at Muzaffarnagar.
He said the party's National Convention would discuss issues like land acquisition, farmers' problems and inflation.
On UPA government's foreign policy, Yadav said "it has totally failed as India has no strong ally.". PTI
