Chandigarh, Jan 12: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be addressing poll rallies in Amritsar and Ludhiana on January 21, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh said today.
“The Prime Minister will address the first meeting at Amritsar and then at Ludhiana,” Amarinder told reporters here.
The Prime Minister had begun his New Year from Amritsar, when he along with his wife Gursharan Kaur paid obeisance at the Golden Temple on January one.
Punjab goes to polls on January 30 and Congress is looking to wrest power from the Parkash Singh Badal headed SAD-BJP combine.
Amarinder also said that dates for poll campaigning of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi were being worked out.
“We would like Sonia ji to come to Moga and Kapurthala. However, at this stage, this is tentative and final programme will be intimated once approval comes from her side,” he said.
Regarding Rahul Gandhi's programme for the State, the former Chief Minister said, “he has assured us of addressing six (election) meetings. The date and venues are in the process of being finalised”.
