Nashik: The Narendra Modi-led BJP government is engaged in "empty talks" on issues concerning farmers and has discontinued pro-people schemes initiated by the erstwhile UPA government, former Union minister and Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay has alleged.
"The Modi government at the Centre is only making announcements for various projects, but has not yet taken any decision in favour of farmers or common people," Sahay said while interacting with reporters here last evening.
Taking a swipe at the prime minister, Sahay said, "Modi often harps on development in Gujarat, but we all know what is happening there".

He said pro-people schemes announced by the previous Congress government are being "closed" by the NDA government. "The government should adopt good schemes in the country," he added.
Later, Sahay met Shankaracharya of Puri Swami Adhokshajanand, who is camping at Nashik for Kumbh Mela, and took a holy dip along with his family members in 'Ramkunda' in Godavari river.
Adhokshajanand said he had written to Prime Minister Modi urging him to take necessary steps for the 'Kumbh Mela' in Ujjain next year.
