New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi has always managed to move people to tears with his heartfelt speeches and excellent oratory skills. But nothing could be more satisfying for a leader than the fact that appreciation pours in from opposition quarter as well. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, while talking to a news channel hailed Modi's speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and gave him an ‘A' for delivering a crisp and clear speech that sent out the right message.
Tharoor commended Modi's level, tone and pitch and said he was spot on. He made a crucial observation that it would have been shame had he listed out Indian issue only instead of presenting the big picture.
Tharoor admired Modi's stand on terrorism too.
“Mr Modi also pushed a very important Indian objective, the comprehensive convention on International terrorism, which we have been trying to get adopted in the UN for over a decade now without success.” He said.
It may be noted that before entering mainstream politics, Shashi Tharoor was the Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information in the UN before he declared his retirement after coming a close second in the 2006 elections for the Secretary-General to Ban Ki Moon.
He is now a veteran Congress leader. To sum up his appreciation of Modi's speech he said, “Broadly speaking well done! It's impressive unlike his predecessor he didn't read out the text. As far as the oratory is concerned, he was crisp and clear. There was no hesitation. He couldn't have done better even if the script was written out for him.”
