Congress on Tuesday hailed the recent visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the US as "extremely productive, intense and harmonious" and said that India's point of view was understood, imbibed and observed.
"India's point of view was not only put forth in a strong and comprehensive manner but has also been understood, imbibed and observed...India's resolve was made crystal clear that terrorism was a common threat to global peace and that it is non-negotiable in any form at any time and in any region," party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters in New Delhi.
Describing the meeting between Singh and US President Barrack Obama as "a unique meeting of minds", Singhvi said the two countries have "in writing noted the great threat of terrorism to India originating from India's neighbourhood."
He said that there has also been a special endorsement of the approach, action and reconstructive role of India in Afghanistan. He added that counter-terrorism initiative was given a special place in the Indo-US joint statement.
On CHOGM, Singhvi said India's stand on climate change was unequivocally reiterated in the meeting. PTI
