Varanasi: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today said the people would soon realise that the lofty promises made by BJP and Narendra Modi in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections cannot be fulfilled.

“Such lofty promises by them will not last longer and the people will come to understand their reality. Some people got influenced by the false promises but it will not be permanent that people will vote for them on such promises which could not be fulfilled,” Manjhi said, adding “they are even doing the same for Bihar and Jharkhand elections.”

Slamming the BJP for its promise to bring back black money stashed abroad, the Bihar chief minister said, “In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections they said that they would bring back the black money and that if the money is brought back every Indian will get Rs 8 to 10 lakh... I haven't seen anyone getting that money.”

On the Centre's cleanliness drive, he said, “Apart from the Swachh Bharat campaign, the Prime Minister should also sit with tribals and share a meal with them to understand their difficulties.” Untouchability and casteism should be removed, he said.

Manjhi today inaugurated the newly-constructed hut of 15th century poet Kabir Das at the Kabir Mulgadi Mutt in Kabirchaura here.

“The PM, who is an MP from Varanasi, should visit the Kabir mutt here... His visit to the mutt will be an encouragement for the Kabir followers,” he said.
