Mumbai: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said the high turnout in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections is an indication that people in the border state have trust, faith in democracy and the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Speaking on "Hindutva: national integration and world peace" organised by Indian cultural foundation in suburban Mumbai here, Swamy said in the Lok Sabha elections, the turnout was 41 per cent while in the assembly polls, it was over 70 per cent.
"This shows the people trust Modi government and democracy," he said.
Swamy alleged that British-sponsored history books have distorted India's image and past glory.
