New Delhi: The bitter row between the couple Sunanda Pushkar and Sashi Tharoor spilled out in the open at Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi airports, and also on the flight on January 15, when passengers noticed harsh exchanges between both of them.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewary was sitting across the aisle from the couple, who were quarrelling inside the aircraft. Tewary boarded the aircraft from Mumbai, while the couple had boarded from Thiruvananthapuram for Delhi.
Differences had been brewing between the couple for the last six months over Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, but took a turn for the worse in the last two months, sources close to the couple revealed.
At the airport, the spat continued, and passengers saw Sunanda rushing to the washroom in tears.
The couple continued arguing even on January 16 night, after Tharoor moved into the hotel room, as Sunanda had refused to go home from the airport and went to the hotel alone. Tharoor joined her at the hotel the next day, a source said.
