Mumbai, Jan 19: Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar today described Rahul Gandhi's elevation as the Congress party's “internal matter”, but added that in the NCP “we can't fight the polls under the leadership of Supriya Sule.”
Speaking to reporters here, Pawar said, “it's the Congress party's internal matter as to what responsibility it is giving to Rahul Gandhi. What can we say about it?
“Every party has it right to decide its policy. In our party, the situation has not come to entrust the leadership to Supriya Sule (Pawar's daughter).”
Asked whether his party would cooperate if Rahul Gandhi takes over the leadership of the United Progressive Alliance, Pawar quipped: “How can I react to an event which has not taken place?”
