Our heads hang in shame over crime against women: Sonia

Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda highlighted the steps taken by his government for empowerment of women.  



“Haryana government is committed for empowerment of common women in the state and numbers of steps have been taken by us in this regard...Our aim is to project Haryana as an example of women empowerment in the country,” he said.  The aim of the state government is that women get equal opportunities in every sphere, Hooda said.  Hooda also noted that girls fared better than boys in the field of education in 2011-12.

Steps such as Priyadarshini Awaas Yojna have been taken under which 3.5 lakh houses would be constructed in rural and urban areas for poor people and the woman of the family would have ownership rights, he said.

Parents of only girl child were being given monthly pension from the age of 45 years. Assistance of Rs.31,000 and Rs.11,000 is also being given on the marriage of girls belonging to Schedules Castes and daughters of widows living below poverty line, he said.

The program was attended by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia, state Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal and Vice Chancellor of the University Pankaj Mittal.
