Jammu: Notifications were today issued for February 7 polls for four seats of Rajya Sabha of Jammu and Kashmir as seven candidates including Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad are in the fray.
“The elections to elect four members to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) by the members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be held on February 7 at JK Legislative Assembly Secretariat lobby Jammu from 9 am to 4 pm,” according to the notification issued by Returning Officer M Ramzan.
The contestants in the fray are PDP's Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo of NC, Shamsher Singh of BJP, Nasir Aslam Wani of NC, Nazir Ahmad Laway of PDP, Chander Mohan Sharma of BJP and Azad after the withdrawal of candidature on January 31.
While BJP and PDP have fielded two candidates each under seat sharing arrangements, National Conference and Congress have jointly nominated three candidates including Azad.
