Patna: Senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar would launch a 17-day yatra (march) of the state from November 12 which would be a major event ahead of state Assembly elections due next year.
Kumar would launch ‘Samparak yatra' from West Champaran district on November 12, Rajiv Ranjan, state party spokesman told PTI.
Everyday Kumar would cover at least two districts during the march which would end on November 29, he said. Ranjan said during Yatra, the JD(U) leader would make people aware of the need for special category status and tell them about “betrayal” of BJP with the people of Bihar.
Kumar, who returned from Delhi today held a meeting with top JD(U) leaders including state President Basistha Narayan Singh at his residence in which the programme of ‘Samparak yatra' was finalised.
Sources in the party said that Kumar had a meeting with RJD President Lalu Prasad in the national capital today before he departed for Patna.
The yatra would be significant as the state gears up for poll next year.
The former Chief Minister would be the main campaigner of JD(U) in the election which would prove whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi wins Bihar once again after general election or regrouping of “mandal forces” succeeds in halting his surge.
