Patna: JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today took a jibe at BJP president Amit Shah's defence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise on the black money issue during poll campaign as a “proverb” and asked whether all promises made by him were like that.

“Amit Shah is defending Narendra Modi's promise to distribute Rs 15-20 lakh to every poor from black money that would brought back to country saying it was a ‘chunavi kahawat' (electoral proverb)...are all the promises made by Narendra Modi during election are merely electoral proverbs,” he said.

Kumar's jibe came while he was addressing a training programme of JD(U) minority cell meeting at his residence ahead of Bihar poll later this year, according to a statement issued by his office.

Kumar asked senior JD (U) leaders minority cell to properly put the views and ideology of the party before the people.

He told them to ask people who voted for BJP in general election “whether Union government will not take their land under ordinance on land acquisition and do they think they will get Rs 15-20 lakh in their bank accounts from black money brought back to country by Narendra Modi government?”

Kumar appealed to them to convince citizens of minority community to cast vote for victory of their favourite candidates and not merely for defeat of somebody.  JD(U) President Sharad Yadav made a blistering attack on BJP saying “by facilitating victory of BJP under Narendra Modi, the country in its 68 years after Independence has been defeated for the first time.”

He alleged that Narendra Modi government was indulging in “politics of fear by showing threat from 15 per cent minorities to 80 per cent of the population.”
