Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, RJD supremo Lalu Yadav and Congress president Sonia Gandhi together will launch their campaign for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections at Gandhi Maidan in Patna today.

The rally, dubbed as the first big show of unity by the grand secular alliance, is likely to be attended by lakhs of people from different parts of Bihar.

On August 12, JDU, RJD and the Congress had announced their seat sharing formula for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. JDU and RJD had decided to contest on 100 seats each for the 243-member assembly. As per the seat agreement, Congress will put up candidates in 40 constituencies.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad and party general secretary and in-charge of Bihar affairs C P Joshi will also be present in the rally.

The rally will also be attended by Samajwadi Party (SP) but its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav would not attend it, instead his brother  Shivpal Singh Yadav will be representing his party.

"We have received communication that Shivpal Singh Yadav and Kironmoy Nanda would represent SP in tomorrow's rally," Bihar SP President Ramchandra Singh Yadav told PTI.

In the rally, Nitish Kumar is expected to question PM Modi's special package of 1.25 lakh crore to Bihar.

Bihar CM is also likely to rake up PM Modi's DNA remark on him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned Nitish Kumar's political DNA during the first Parivartan rally in Muzaffarpur on July 25.

Notably, The rally is happening just two days before Modi's fourth rally in the state. Modi will address last Parivartan rally at Bhagalpur, scheduled for September 1.
