Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday said Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister if the JD(U) alliance got a majority in next year's Assembly elections. "I would like to see Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister and Prime Minister at the Centre as he is the most popular leader.
But it depends on him (Nitish Kumar) whether he likes state or central politics," Majhi told reporters at the Sizua Guest House.
Claiming that the new JD(U) alliance would win all seats in the August 21 bye-elections in Bihar, he said, "I will also favour a similar grand alliance of secular parties in Jharkhand like in Bihar where JD(U), RJD and Congress come together. But a final decision on it will be taken by Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav."
Manjhi, who attended a felicitation ceremony organised by the All India Bhuian Welfare Society, said he would soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include Bhuian and Mushar castes in the ST list.
Expressing anguish over the poor ratio of Bhuian community members in the 2011 Census, he said, "It was done intentionally to deny reservation facility to this caste.
If the same pattern is repeated during caste survey we will conduct house to house survey to expose the nefarious design." Calling upon the Bhuian society to focus on education, Manjhi said he would meet Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to set up a Commission for the Maha Dalits.
