Nitish flexes his strength in Delhi with JD(U) Adhikar rally

New Delhi, Mar 16: More than 40,000 JD (U) activists from Bihar are expected to attend a huge Adhikar Rally to be addressed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Ram Lila Maidan on Sunday.




Already hundreds of JD(U) supporters have starting coming to the capital from Bihar since Saturday.

The rally has been called to press for a special category status for Bihar.

Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Members of Parliament N K Singh, RCP Singh, Sabir Ali, Monazir Hassan and party MLAs and Ministers from Bihar will address the rally.

This rally is in continuation of the JD(U)'s political campaign to obtain special status for Bihar, considering its huge development deficit reflected in low human development index and lowest per capita income.

Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav will be addressing the rally at around 1 pm.

Massive preparations have been made for the JD(U) rallyists at Ramlila Maidan. A huge tent has been erected, with 150 sound system and 10 Sulabh Shauchalaya vans.  A 30 x 60 feet stage has been erected with 40 chairs placed on the stage.

An IT team will provide live streaming of the event. 50 Delhi Jal Board tankers have been requisitioned and more than 500 Delhi Police staff have been deloyed. The organisers will be providing free breakfast and meals to the rallyists, says JD(U) coordinator Bablu Patel.

Buses will play to bring people from New Delhi, Old Delhi, Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar stations to Ramlila Maidan.  The rallyists will later be taken on a Delhi Darshan tour.

Meena Singh, JD-U MP from Ara has arranged buses and cars and accommodation forf around 5000 people. She has set up  a makeshift tent at her North Avenue bungalow for activists from her constituency.

A tent house has been set up near  MP flats where food, lodging and  blankets have been provided to participants.
