New Delhi: Bihar's political crisis has taken a new twist after . Former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has alleged that Jitan Ram Manjhi's meeting with the governor as well as the Union home minister signaled the BJP's strategy of disrupting the house proceedings on February 20.
What has really worried JD(U) is that the CM held two cabinet meetings this week and brought Paswans (Dusadh) under the mahadalit umbrella, besides creating quota for the SCs/STs in certain categories of government contracts.
After the JD(U) expelled Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi he continues to be an unattached member of the House. The JD(U) claimed to have the support of the largest number of legislators.
Though the JD(U) has 111 MLAs, 12 of them cast their lot with Manjhi.
KC Tyagi, JD(U) Secretary general said the Governor, Keshwari Nath Tripathi has a history of controversial ruling as speaker in the Uttar Pradesh assembly and was violating the constitutional provisions.
Speculation is rife that Manjhi may get cabinet's approval of his announcements made this week that said his government intended to regularize over three lakh teachers and 3,000 nurses on contract, besides taking over unaided schools and colleges in Bihar.
The JD(U) said Manjhi's unconstitutional actions will extract a huge financial cost that the next government would find it difficult to cough up. It would, the party said, need more than Rs 50,000 crore annually to implement Manjhi's policy decisions.
Assembly elections in Bihar are due later this year. Terming as unprecedented BJP's defeat in the just-concluded Delhi Assembly election, it proved that people of the country do not like mere promises and tall claims.
