New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today announced on Twitter that he is travelling to Europe “for a few days” and greeted his supporters a Happy New Year.
"I will be traveling to Europe for a few days. A very Happy New Year to everyone," Rahul tweeted a few minutes ago.
“Hope the new year brings much joy and happiness to you and everyone close to you!” he added.
Rahul's absence has been a cause of much controversy in the past year. His mysterious absence during this year's Budget Session was lapped up the BJP as a major opportunity to pounce on the Congress.
With Rahul having announced the trip prior to his departure, one wonders whether this trip attracts the same attention as his earlier escapades did.
After his earlier trip, Congress has fielded Rahul as a mature politician who has taken on the government on more than one occasion. The reactions to his absence may well be decided by the duration of his absence.
