Srinagar: A week after Jammu and Kashmir delivered a fractured verdict in assembly elections, the National Conference (NC) has finally decided to support PDP for forming a new government in Jammu and Kashmir.
NC today called the meeting of its newly elected MLAs to chalk out party's future strategy regarding government formation in the state.
The meeting was chaired by party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar and it attended by all 15 MLAs of the party .
The newly elected legislators reportedly arrived at a consensus on two points. First, NC will not support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at any cost and second, the party will not accept any Hindu Chief Minister.

It was also decided that the party will extend support to the PDP, the single largest party with 28 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, to keep BJP out of the power in the state.
NC MLAs were unanimous that the party will not accept any Hindu Chief Minister.
“Hindu CM manzoor nahi, BJP manzoor nahi,” said NC MLA Abdul Majeed.
“We have decided to support the PDP,” said another MLA Ali Muhammad Sagar .
A few MLAs, however, said that they will go by whatever decision the party leadership takes.
“We will follow the instructions of our senior leaders,” Ganderbal MLA, Ashfaq Jabbar Sheikh, said.
According to reports available, PDP is planning to forge a ‘grand alliance' with arch rivals NC and Congress to form a ‘stable' government in the state.
PDP, with 28 MLAs, is the largest party in 87-member House followed by BJP's 25 legislators.
The NC and Congress are having 15 and 12 MLAs, respectively.
An elected government has to sworn-in by 19 January, failing which Governor's rule will be imposed.
