Srinagar: The newly-elected MLAs of National Conference today authorised party president Farooq Abdullah and working president Omar Abdullah to take a decision on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“All the (newly-elected) representatives have reposed their faith in the leadership of Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah and will support any move taken by these two leaders for the government formation,” NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said in a statement after chairing the meeting of the party MLAs here.
Sagar said the newly-elected legislators took a vow to defend the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and the party programmes like ‘Naya (new) Kashmir'.

“All the MLA's vowed to fight tooth and nail to protect the special status enjoyed by Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to the newly-elected MLAs, Sagar hoped all the elected representatives will work tirelessly for the welfare of the people of all three regions of the state.
National Conference, which ruled the state in coalition with Congress from 2009, won 15 seats in recent assembly elections.
The party has offered unconditional support to arch rival PDP, which emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats in the 87-member House, for government formation but the latter has not yet responded to the offer.
