New Delhi: In a bid to show strong public support for party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is preparing for a mass mobilisation during their appearences in a trial court on saturday in connection with National Herald case.

According to report by Economic Times, "All top central leaders of the party, along with party MPs, are staying back in Delhi this weekend, even as many senior Congress leaders from the states, including chief ministers, are expected to reach Delhi to participate in the solidarity parade."

According to a report in The Times of India, the Congress leaders, who are due to appear in the trial court on Saturday, were willing to go to jail to prove their innocence.

Earlier reports claimed that a major section of Congress leadership was in favour of the Gandhis not appealing in a higher court against the summons. It wanted them to appear in the court with a massive show of strength.

However, as per PTI, the party remained tightlipped on the course to be adopted by the two leaders when they appear before the court.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who had represented the Gandhis in the court, steered clear of questions whether the Gandhis would apply for bail. "We cannot share our strategy. I have not spoken to anyone on the issue. I cannot speak on it".
