New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today begin his two-day maiden visit to the northeast India.

As per the schedule, the Prime Minister will arrive at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Guwahati today at 04:30 pm and head towards Maligaon Stadium to flag-off the first train from Mendipathar (Meghalaya) to Guwahati by remote control and also unveil the plaque for a new rail line from Bhairabi to Salrang (Mizoram).

Next day, on November 30, he will inaugurate the Conference of Director Generals of Police here at 09:20 am and later address party workers before leaving for Imphal, capital of Manipur. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, DGPs from all the states and paramilitary chiefs will attend the meet. The conference, which was earlier scheduled for November 21, was deferred by a week to November 29-30 in view of Modi's visit. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Nagaland on December 1, where he would inaugurate the state's biggest festival - the Hornbill Festival. December 1 is also Nagaland's Statehood Day.
