Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reminded people of Kashmir valley that his intentions were honest and the biggest proof was the fact that the Army for the first time punished its two jawans for killing two youths.
Addressing an election rally in Sher-e-Kashmir stadium of Srinagar, Modi said, "For the first time, Army had briefed the media in last 30 years and took the responsibility for killing of two youth. This is because of the Central government. This signifies my clear vision."
Modi also reminded the people that he had decided to spend Diwali with the people of the valley and said that the people of the state have no faith in the state government as he was told.
"Everyone was celebrating Diwali with their dear ones but I skipped the celebration. I came here and listened to your grievances. I met several people, they said that ‘Modiji don't give fund to state government'. I asked why? They said transfer money directly in our account because they don't have faith in the state government and that they have faith in Modi," said Modi.
Reminding people of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's dreams about Kashmir, Modi said that it is now his responsibility to take that forward.
"I will work for Atalji's dream... fulfilling his dream is my responsibility, it is my duty. He had talked about Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat & Jamhooriyat...humanity, democracy. What does India have better than Kashmir to show to the world? we will take Kashmir to new heights of development," said Modi.
Terming the loss of lives of Army jawans and police personnel as a big loss, Modi said that it was his duty to share their pain.
"In Kashmir, Army jawans lost their lives; police also lost their lives in the line of duty. Besides, children were also killed. This is a big loss. Being a ‘prdhan sevak' of India, it is my responsibility to share your pain and grievances, said Modi.

I reconstructed the district, built hospitals, buildings, schools and colleges. And today, Kutch is the fastest growing district of the state. I have arrived here with the same ambitions. I promise you that Kashmir can also become the fastest growing district.

Kashmiri girls need not go far for education, we need to change this. There are places here where if infrastructure is build so many tourists can come. jab yaahan baadh ayee to maaf keejiye sarkaar soi hui thii, main bhaaga bhaaga aya.You have seen the last 30 years but received nothing. Now I appeal you to change the ‘old ways' and look for new way – development. And it is the mantra of the BJP ‘ sabka sath, sabka vikas'.Everyone should get his right and then only development will take place.
3:06pm-Modi: When I was Chief Minister, once I had visited Dal lake. When I was coming out from the lake, few people touched my feet. I was surprised... who are they. I asked them. They told me that they arrived here from Gujarat as tourists. The water of Jammu and Kashmir has power to give electricity to the rest of the country. Pahad ki paani aur jawani pahad ke kaam nahi aati hai'. I want to change this idiom. I want to generate power from the water of mountain.

People earn their livelihood. An auto walla, a chana wala & a chai walla also earns. And I get very happy when 'chai wala' earns.
