New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be today addressing an election rally at Dwarka in west Delhi. The rally is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
Extensive security arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful conduct of the rally. Security agencies in the city are on high alert following intelligence inputs of terror threats during Delhi elections.
Reports suggest that over 5,000 police personnel will be deployed in and around the grounds where Modi will address the party rally. This includes officials of Special Protection Group (SPG), who look after the Prime Minister's security.
The ground has been kept under the watch of the CCTV cameras. Snipers including personnel of the elite National Security Guard (NSG) will also be deployed at the highrise building near the venue.
According to an official of Delhi Police, three-layered check points will be set up for every visitor at the venue. Visitors will be first checked at least 50 metres away from the ground. The second and third check points will be at the entry point.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister had addressed a poll rally at CBD grounds near Karkardooma in East Delhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned to make Modi's rally a big success. Senior party leader and Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy is personally looking after all arrangements for Modi's rally.
He has asked party workers to pull up their socks to ensure thumping victory for the BJP.
He also said that besides top party leaders, all candidates of 13 assembly seats in the Dwarka region will be sharing dais with Modi.
Meanwhile, party chief Amit Shah is slated to address three poll rallies today.
Delhi will go the polls on February 7 and the results will be announced on February 10.
