Chennai: BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today lambasted the UPA government for asking the Archaeological Survey of India to begin excavation for the imaginary 1,000 tonnes gold in UP "based on a dream", and said, the Centre should first bring the gold hoarded in Swiss banks by those who have looted this nation.
Addressing BJP workers outside the Chennai airport on his arrival, Modi said, the gold hoarded in Swiss banks by "looters of India" are several times more than the 1,000 tonnes of gold.
"You (Centre) are excavating in search of 1,000 tonnes of gold in UP bases on the dream of a seer. The entire world is making fun of India. The government at the Centre should first bring back gold hoarded in Swiss banks, which is several times more than this", Modi said.
