Hyderabad, Sep 26: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Wednesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately resolve the Telangana issue.

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu sent a letter to the prime minister, demanding that he immediately convene an all-party meeting on the issue.

Blaming the Congress for the delay and uncertainty, Naidu said no decision was taken even on the report of the Srikrishna Committee.

He alleged that the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress party had colluded to take political mileage from the issue - related to demands for carving a separate Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh - ahead of the 2014 general elections.

The TDP chief also reminded Manmohan Singh that it was the Congress which entered into an electoral alliance with the TRS, which is demanding a state of Telangana, in 2004. He pointed out that the TDP had also written a letter to the Pranab Mukherjee Committee on Telangana in 2008.

Naidu sent the letter to the prime minister following persistent demand from his party leaders in Telangana region. However, it was immediately not clear if they would be satisfied with the contents of the letter as some of them wanted Naidu to support the long-pending demand for a separate Telangana state.

TDP leader M. Narasimhulu said the TDP would take a stand on Telangana at an all-party meeting.

The TRS leaders alleged that Naidu sent the letter to fool the TDP leaders in the region. TRS legislator K. Tarakarama Rao said there was nothing in the letter and it proved that Naidu was against a separate Telangana state.
