New Delhi: A Muslim leader from North-East Delhi Dr Fahim Beg today raised his voice of protest over what he called the negligence of minorities by the government at a conference organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

This incident took place in the presence of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

As Dr Beg shouted, SPG commandos and other security personnel grabbed the man, clamped their palms over his mouth and tried to take him out of the Vigyan Bhavan.

Sonia Gandhi was heard telling the SPG men not to arrest the man, and release him, while the Prime Minister said that the man's voice be heard.

Later, Dr Fahim Beg told reporters that he was a doctor by profession and had been working for the betterment of Muslims in North-East Delhi for the last ten years.
