BJP National General Secretary and MP, Arjun Munda, on Saturday lambasted the UPA government for using the investigative agency CBI as its political instrument in the country.
"It is really ridiculous that the investigative agency, which was bent on harassing the Gujarat government, headed by Narendra Modi, at the behest of the UPA government, has filed 30,000 pages of chargesheet in connection with Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case whereas it had filed only one page chargesheet even though over 30,000 people were killed in the Bhogal gas leak," Munda, a former Jharkhand Chief Minister, told newsmen while addressing a press conference in Jamshedpur.
He alleged that then the Union Government had also misused CBI for protecting the Union Carbide Chief, Warren Anderson.
Referring to the alleged fake encounter case of 2005, Munda said several cases were pending against Sohrabuddin in states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh. Besides, the police had recovered 10,000 live cartridges and about 25 AK-47 rifles from Madhya Pradesh following his disclosures.
The Cente was deliberately targeting the Gujarat government with regard to the case but BJP would not tolerate misuse of any government agencies for political benefits, Munda warned. BJP will take out +Nyay Yatra+ to protest against wrong economic polices as well as misuse of government agencies in the country from August 8 to 14, he announced.
Referring to increasing prices, the BJP leader alleged that speculation and manipulation were the sole causes behind increasing prices. In fact, India had become an example in the world where inflation had touched the double digit mark between 10 to 12 per cent, he added. PTI
