New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has proposed a new political deal to the Congress party under which his father and Samajwadi party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will be projected as the prime ministerial candidate with Rahul Gandhi as his deputy in 2019 Lok Sabha  polls.

His offer came as he was responding to the question at Hinduatan Times Leadership Summit on whether his Samajwadi Party would be open to an alliance with the Congress for the next national election.

.“I am ready to go for an alliance with the Congress if Netaji is made the prime minister and Rahul Gandhi the deputy prime minister,” said Yadav

“I also wish that Netaji's dream is fulfilled … he also becomes the prime minister,” he added.

Notably the congress vice president was also present during the summit but he declined to comment.

Dismissing any chances of alliance with BJP, Yadav said his party could never partner with the BJP and described the Congress vice president as an "old friend".

"He is sitting here, you can ask him. He is a very good friend of mine," said India's youngest Chief Minister.

He also admitted that party's image has taken a hit because it did not focus on branding and marketing.

The UP CM also accused media of not projecting his government's good work. Saying “Samajwadi Party has balanced between farmers and cities.”
