Mumbai, Jan 20: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has welcomed Rahul Gandhi's appointment as AICC Vice President and thanked the party chief Sonia Gandhi for elevating him.
MPCC president Manikrao Thakre claimed that party workers will stand firmly behind Rahul.
State Congress General Secretary Sanjay Dutt said Rahul epitomises the "aspirations" of aam aadmi and the youth of the country.
"His (Rahul's) new responsibility will strengthen Sonia's resolve to make Congress a more vibrant and people-oriented organisation to lead the nation to greater heights of progress and development," Dutt said.
Congress workers burst firecrackers outside party office last night to welcome Rahul's elevation.
