New Delhi: Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “dhanpati” connection, the Congress party has asked the Prime Minister to explain if it was ‘ethical' on his part to accept gifts as head of government for personal use.
“The PM must answer the ethical question of accepting gifts and not depositing its proceeds with the exchequer,” AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.
Surjewala termed the wisdom behind auctioning Rs 10 lakh one-time wearable suit as “circus of the absurd”.
He said “It will neither absolve nor alleviate the 'dhanpati' connections of Modi."
According to the party, the gifts received as head of state should be deposited with the exchequer which the Prime Minister, in this case, did not do. The party added that he does not hold the liberty to accept such gifts in personal capacity.
