New Delhi: In an apparent bid to step up the government's communication of its policies to the masses and to ensure that they are in tune with the needs of the people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has roped in his trusted colleagues for an outreach programme that could serve both ends.
According to senior government sources, the Prime Minister has personally directed all colleagues in the Council of Ministers to visit different parts of the country starting January for feedback on its policies and also speak about different initiatives undertaken by the government.
As per the PM's directions, all Union ministers will visit at least two constituencies where they will interact with locals, farmers and traders associations and stay there for a night.
Media interactions will also be a crucial part of this outreach programme.
According to the sources, these visits in January will be particularly important as Modi wants ministers to bring important feedbacks for the General Budget that is in the process of being prepared.
The task will be streamlined in a professional manner where ministers will undertake visits, carry out interactions, speak about government programmes and submit a report to a committee formed by the party.
Besides ministers, all Members of Parliament will also have to visit all assembly seats in their respective constituencies for feedback. As per the plan, Modi expects feedback from more than 120 constituencies in January.
While the initiative will initially be focussed on getting crucial inputs from the people in view of the budget, sources say this will be a continuous process and ministers will have to make such visits every month.
The Narendra Modi-led BJP came to power on the promise of good governance and a pro-people image. One and a half years into its tenure, the government wants to ensure that its policies and initiatives benefit masses.
Importantly, the government also wants its policies communicated effectively to the people through such outreach programmes.
