3:58 pm: Modi takes a swipe at Congress raising Pranab Mukerjee's name. After Indira Gandhi's resignation, Pranab Mukherjee was the seniormost minister, but he was deprived from being made PM.  Even in 2004, Pranab Mukherjee was ignored and Manmohan Singh was made PM.

Modi reads out from a prepared Bengali speech : Namaskar, upasthit bhai bon- bandhuder abhinandan. He says, Bengal is known for its Durga pooja, its Sonar Bangla, the people of Bengal  are known for their great intellect. Ami aapnake bhalobasi.  (I love you Bengalis).

: Modi arrives on dais amidst slogans of "Modiji swagatam" "Desh Ka Neta Kaisa Ho, Modiji Jaisa Ho" Modi sits with Varun Gandhi on his right and BJP chief Rajnath Singh on his left. Modi reads out pointers of his speech sitting quietly. Varun Gandhi garlands Rajnath Singh and touches his feet.

2:30 pm: Shahnawaz Hussain says, "third number" parties in Delhi are today forming the Third Front, but that will not succeed. In Russia, these Communists crush religion, and in Bengal, these same Communists come out to speak our for Muslims, he says.

: Recent entrant Bollywood music director Bappi Lahiri reaches Kolkata to attend Modi's rally .

11:30 am
: The front enclosures for which people paid money for entrance tickets, are almost filled up. Media crews have taken up positions in their enclosure.

11 am
: Metal detectors have been installed at all entry points to the rally venue. People are being frisked before being allowed to enter the enclosures.
