Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have gone to pay tributes to Indira Gandhi at her memorial today, veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari said. “Modi should have gone to the memorial to pay homage to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary today,” he told reporters here.
The former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand chief minister said he still have hopes from Modi that he would get a grand memorial built in her memory.
When asked about Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav repeatedly speaking about danger from China, Tiwari, who shares a good rapport with Yadav, said, “I understand that by saying so, he stresses on improving security on the borders with the neighbouring country.”
Welcoming the sacking of 72 advisors and chairmen with minister of state status by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he said, “No such appointment should have been made in the first place and now that they have been sacked I welcome it”.
