Bareilly, Jul 18: Congress party in-charge for Uttar Pradesh and Rahul Gandhi's confidante Madhusudan Mistry said yesterday that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was a "divisive" leader and he was no match for Rahul.
Mistry had come here to attend the party review meting. He told reporters that Gujarat would throw up a different result during the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"Modi is divisive. He cannot take people together and he cannot match Rahul. Most of Modi's ministers and officials are in jail for fake encounters", Mistry said.
Mistry described the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls as significant for UP.
"Congress can give a stable government at the Centre only after winning a large number of seats from UP. No other party including BJP, SP or BSP can give a stable government at the Centre", Mistry said.
He said, Modi or Amit Shah would make no difference to politics in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the SP government was projecting central schemes under its name in UP. "We will bring a law to make it mandatory to use the word Rashtriya (national) for such schemes", he said.
