Modi can bring Ram Rajya, Ashok Singhal tells Aap Ki Adalat

New Delhi: Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal has said, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi can bring Ram Rajya if he comes to power at the Centre. Replying to questions in Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat on India TV, the VHP patron said: "The saints who had assembled at Kumbh Mela had this year organised a religious ritual in which they had sought blessings of Lord Rama for Modi, in a similar manner in which Samarth Guru Ramdas had invoked the blessings of God for the coronation of Shivaji. "It seems that divine powers of Lord Rama have blessed Modi, and he has become suddenly popular across the country", said Singhal .Singhal said: "Since the divine powers of Lord Rama have now resided in Modi, it could be that destiny wants that he should establish Ram Rajya" (Jab Ram ki shakti unke upar aa gayi, to Ram Rajya kaayam karne ke liye baith gayi hogi).Asked by Rajat Sharma whether it should not have been L K Advani, who was the pioneer of Ayodhya movement, Singhal sidestepped the question saying he would not like to comment. "In politics, you don't know what people say and what they mean to. When he (Advani) launched his rath yatra, he did it on his own. He didn't seek the approval of saints. And when the rath was stopped, he brought the downfall of V P Singh's government. The only work that his rath yatra did was, it brought down a government", said Singhal. When Rajat Sharma specifically asked whether Narendra Modi will help build the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Singhal tried to sidestep the question by saying: "It depends on the situation prevailing in the country. People wearing the cloak of secularism are looting this country, the country is moving towards bankruptcy. Modi is popular for his development model. We hope he will bring religiosity among the people."Singhal said, before Modi's rule in Gujarat, there used to be attacks on Hindu rath yatra processions, but during Modi's rule, these have stopped, because he adopted a strong policy against 'jehadi elements'. "Now Hindus and Muslims live in peace in Gujarat". On the sexual assault charge against Asaram Bapu, Singhal said, the matter was now before the court and the court should decide whether the charge was true or not. But the VHP leader reminded how in the past Hindu saints like Pragya Sadhvi, Shankaracharya of Kanchi and Kripalu Maharaj were made to face criminal charges."Nothing concrete was found against Pragya Sadhvi in the 5,000-page chargesheet. In Shankaracharya's case, the Supreme Court said, no prima facie case was made out. In Kripalu Maharaj's case, the girl who had alleged rape said, she could not recognise the rapist", said Singhal. The VHP patron alleged that the UPA government was deliberately targeting Hindu saints as part of what he said was "Vatican conspiracy". On the flop 84 kosi parikrama yatra in UP, Singhal clarified, the yatra was not intended to draw lakhs of people near Ayodhya. "Only 200 saints from different parts of the country were supposed to go to 40 small towns and bring out small processions with local people. But the UP government deployed 40 companies of policemen to stall the yatra. The yatra is still on and is going on peacefully. Even the police has now understood what this yatra is all about", said Singhal. Singhal was caustic about UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and said that "dynastic rule has to end in a big democracy like India."Singhal said, he did not consider Muslims and Christians in India as minorities, because their percentages in population were very high. "Only Jains and some other communities deserve to be called minorities. Otherwise, everybody is a a common citizen in India, and the common civil code should be implemented."Ashok Singhal in Aap Ki Adalat will be telecast on India TV on Saturday (Sept 7) at 10 pm, and on Sunday (Sept 8) at 10 am and 10 pm.
